Pace of Play

Slow Play Policy

At all times your place in the field is immediately behind the group in front

Administration of the Slow Play Policy

The slow play policy will be administered by the Board of Directors. The Board may take action based on times recorded in the Golf Gameskeeper App, personal observations or com-plaints from other members.

Responsibility of all players

All players must maintain their place in the field immediately behind the group in front, and not ahead of the group behind.

Slow Play Defined

Slow play is defined as the loss of position in the field (effectively 17 minutes or more behind the group in front). Slow play is not defined as finishing in a certain amount of time (ie, 4 hours and 30 minutes), but rather not finishing immediately behind the group in front. 17 minutes behind is measured on the Golf Gameskeeper app and is the time of day, not the length of the round. In general, this is equivalent to being a hole behind the group in front of you.

If you feel your group has finished more than 17 minutes behind the group in front, it is your responsibility to notify a member of the Board immediately after your round to determine whether the circumstances dictate a penalty assessment to the group or individual(s) in the group. Tournament results are not final until pace of play has been reviewed.

Penalties for slow play

- A verbal warning as appropriate but not a pre-requisite for stronger action.

- A two stroke penalty as the default outcome for slow play (as defined above) with discre-tion to waive vested in the Board of Directors. The general rule is to take action against the entire group unless a majority of members in the group attest to who the slow player was AND that numerous attempts were made to speak with the member to speed up and get back in position.

- Disqualification for finishing more than 30 minutes behind the group immediately in front.

- Further actions for multiple offenses may be considered by the Board to protect the golf experience for all members.

We would like to remind all members that all individuals in the group are responsible for the observance of USGA rules within the group, including slow play.

SIMPLE THINGS THAT MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO SPEED UP PLAY

1. Only one player should look for a lost ball. Play your shot, then help your playing partner(s).

2. Play ready golf, especially on the tee box.

3. Wait until the next tee to record scores on the scorecard &/or app. Don’t wait around near the putting green, keep things moving.

4. If you can putt out, do so. Don’t mark the ball when it’s 18 inches from the hole. Practice yoga during the week to help step around someone’s line. Namaste’

5. Bring a few clubs with you when you walk 50 yards to use your range finder.

6. Don’t wait in the cart while your cart mate hits and then drive to your ball. Get out and walk to your ball with a few clubs. Be ready to play when it’s your turn. Nothing wastes more time than sitting in the cart watching someone else play. 7. Keep up with the group in front of you. We all fall behind at times, please notice when you do so and simply make your group aware. Do your best to make up that time and catch up asap.

8. On the putting green, line up your putt while others are putting. Don’t wait until it is your turn to start your aim point routine.

9. Keep your pre-shot routine short. One practice swing MAX. Be like DJ: step up, hit the ball, go home to Paulina.

10. No “posing” after your drive. Get the hell off the tee and allow the next player to play. And trust me, no one wants to talk about your shot anymore than you want to hear about their’s.

11. If you get to the tee and don’t know who’s turn it is to hit, it’s YOUR turn!! The old adage of not stepping in front of someone’s birdie is complete non-sense. We are playing golf on a Sunday morning, so we’re all likely going to hell anyhow. Let it FLY!!

12. Hit your own shot before helping someone look for their ball. Yes, this was already mentioned, but it’s that important to say it once again.
